WHY?
I believe in animal welfare.
According to the Open Philanthropy project, 50 billion animals are killed in factory farms each year. Most experience extreme levels of suffering (1).
I believe sustainability is the only way forward.
Meat industry is one of the largest contributors to climate change, with 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions (2).
I believe in the potential of great health.
We are what we eat. Unfortunately, access to healthy food in our modern world is increasingly limited. This poses a threat to global health. (3)
Challenges:
Although red meat consumption has stabilized and even reduced in some parts of Europe, the consumption of pork and poultry are projected to have a moderate increase towards 2050 (4).
MY TOOLS
MY PROCESS
My skills as a Design Strategist
After working in many innovation projects I have gained experience with uncertainty management and conceptualization. With these skills I help companies travel through the complexities of implementing innovative strategies, first by helping them find the most suitable solution before jumping into execution, and then facilitating the creation of products, services or systems that truly reflect their vision and purpose, improving their brand equity & resonance (5).
Combining scientific research with hard design skills I help companies translate validated insights into meaningful solutions that appeal to the mass consumer and help increase customer conversion rates and profits (6).
I am a networker. People are surprised to see me approach others with no difficulty, because when I need something, I simply reach out. As an innovation facilitator I use this skill to create strategic alliances among organizations that promote similar values and create a bigger impact through collaboration and a more efficient use of resources through.
1. I start by capturing a clear picture of the situation to create a vision with the ViP approach by Paul Hekkert, et. al. (CHANGE) (7). The vision created guides the rest of the activities by providing a solid foundation to ideate, but only after defining a clear objective.
2. After establishing a clear direction, I use scientific research methods such as inquiry, observation, experimentation and testing (8) to validate key assumptions, and translate into concepts. For this I use design methods such as concept generation and visualization techniques (9).
3. As a third phase I connect with different stakeholders to co-create, collaborate and iterate (10), ultimately arriving at a stronger concept that is meaningful for everyone.
4. Promising solutions are tested (11) with relevant stakeholders. Then, the process from steps 2-4 is quickly iterated with agile methods such as SCRUM or Kanban (12) to refine these solutions until they are mature enough to be launched (5).

Hi, I'M
Antonio
Suarez
I'm a Design facilitator focused on helping companies innovate with the use of methods such as: context mapping, user-observations, interviews, customer journeys, trend analysis, Visioning in Design, Roadmapping, and others. I have a special interest in companies that commercialize food products as alternatives to animal-based foods.
